Miriam College

Founded as a normal school, Miriam (formerly Maryknoll) College is a champion of learner-centred education, creative teaching, and innovation-driven education reforms. Alongside its strong academic programs, the institution also supports specialised centers engaged in research, community outreach, and advocacy in the fields of social justice, peace education, environmental sustainability, and women’s empowerment. Over nine decades, the school is proud to have developed competent and principled students who have a clear understanding of the socio-political issues of the times, who are motivated to participate in nation-building, and possess a solid academic foundation.

Miriam College is an autonomous higher education institution that has been declared by the Philippine Commission on Higher Education as a Centre of Excellence in Teacher Education, Business Administration, and Entrepreneurship. It is also a Centre of Development in the Communication Arts. Its recent innovations in curriculum development, teacher training, and partnership building have given rise to initiatives in promoting the integration and interaction of design, robotics, engineering/entrepreneurship, arts, mathematics, and social responsibility. These fields spell out DREAMS that are at the heart of its newest alternative learning facility, the Miriam College – Henry Sy, Sr. Innovation Center, the Philippines’ first integrated makerspace.

With its second campus in Santa Rosa, Laguna now in operation and in anticipation of the establishment of its third campus in Porac, Pampanga, Miriam College is taking bold steps towards integrating design thinking into education to support the development of creative disciplines and innovative industries. Aligned to this strategic goal is the drive to enrich its learning environment with international academic partnerships and industry collaborations while maintaining its focus on the values of truth, peace, justice, and the integrity of creation.
