The British Council, the Commission on Higher Education and representatives from higher education institutions under the Joint Development of Niche Programmes through Philippine-UK Linkages (JDNP) participated in this year’s Going Global conference last 2-5 May in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Through the session, Hot issues in higher education: sustainable and equitable partnership opportunities in ASEAN, hosted by British Council Philippines, development in Transnational Education (TNE) in the Philippines was highlighted along with similar efforts in Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam. The ASEAN higher education officials shared how international collaborations are addressing the countries’ local access and domestic capacity building agenda.

Dr Tereso Abella, President of Central Luzon State University also shared on one of the sessions how collaborative TNE engagements serve as an ally in national development by bridging skills gap, growth of student and faculty mobility, as well as access to quality higher education. On another session, Fr Jose Cruz, Vice President for University and Global Relations of the Ateneo De Manila University became part of a panel discussion exploring the employability of TNE graduates.
