The British Council in the Philippines and Department of Trade and Industry’s (DTI) Philippine Trade Training Center partnered for an exciting initiative for Filipino creative entrepreneurs.

The Creative Enterprise Programme ran from 17–19 April 2018 at the Philippine Trade Training Center (PTTC), Pasay City. It was a three-day practical workshop to help creative entrepreneurs turn their business ideas into reality. The activity presented the key aspects of setting up and running a creative business - from developing business proposition, to exploring their potential customer base, and thinking about finances.

The workshop was led by Catherine Docherty, an accredited trainer and creative entrepreneur, who has worked in design and innovation for over 20 years in the UK. She is also the Founder and Managing Director of Journey Associates, an agency that helps organisations improve their economic and social impact through a participatory, design-led approach.

The workshop is led by Catherine Docherty, an accredited trainer and creative entrepreneur, who has worked in design and innovation for over 20 years in the UK.

The Creative Enterprise Programme was developed by Nesta, the UK’s innovation foundation. It was designed specifically for the creative industries, such as advertising, architecture, arts and culture, craft, design, fashion, games, music, publishing, tech, TV and film.

The programme was first launched in the Philippines in 2015. Past participant Kiko Kintanar of Earthworks Fashion shared:

'It was exciting and fun. It placed my goals into perspective and gave me an idea of how to start a creative enterprise or improve it'. – Kiko Kintanar, Accessories Designer, Earthworks Fashion.

The programme in the Philippines was a partnership between British Council and PTTC as the country continues to strengthen its creative economy through international collaborations, professional development and education.
