Safe, Cohesive and Just Communities

In partnership with the Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP), the British Council introduced the Safe, Cohesive and Just Communities (SCJC) project in Butig, Lanao del Sur to improve education, peace and safety services and social cohesion in the community. 

Through collaborative workshops embedding the community policing toolkit, the project equipped the government, police, military and communities create their municipal agenda on education and peace and safety in Butig. The project also facilitated knowledge exchange sessions between Butig and Parang, Maguindanao learning on peace and safety experiences and community-driven policing strategies. 

The SCJC aims to increase peace, safety and prosperity for vulnerable and at-risk communities in Bangsamoro. The project aims to enhance local governance through improved interactions among civil society, the police, local government units and local communities; and to create alternative pathways to access justice, resolve conflict and counter extremist narratives through community empowerment.
