As the UK’s international organisation for cultural relations and educational opportunities, the British Council always strives to champion equality, diversity and inclusion, or EDI, in our work. On 8 March, we hosted the webinar ‘Gender in Research: Challenges and Opportunities Towards Inclusion’, with support from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).
This event aimed to:
- Build awareness on EDI in higher education, specifically in research
- Promote gender equality in research, using examples from the UK, Southeast Asia and the Philippines
- Catalyse conversations on ways to foster inclusion in research field and in the scientific community
This activity forms part of a wider webinar series we are conducting in 2022 to promote EDI in the context of Philippine higher education institutions (beyond access and inclusion among learners) such as institutional policies on recruitment, professional development and grant opportunities among others.
