I am Allan Jay Quesada, an architect, a marathoner and a concerned citizen. As an architect, I envision a liveable city as one having a balance of being complex yet organized, open yet safe, fluid yet structured and modern yet sustainable. These qualities promote a healthy environment and economy by encouraging efficient flow of services and strong mindset. For an athlete who regularly trains for mileage, safe public spaces and pedestrian lanes are more than just ideals. In Singapore, skyscrapers are built along with solar panels and green patches. In Bangkok, rivers function as roads and thoroughfares. In Kota Kinabalu, running and bike paths are as common as convenience stores. In Manila, we have communities and volunteers engaged in active lifestyle, social works and the arts. Greater cities are within our reach as soon as we realize that we already have the manpower, the resources, the idea and the inspiration.
