To book the IELTS exam you need to follow these steps:

I. Upload a clear copy of your valid ID. Please note that candidates under 18 years of age have to supply written consent by a parent or guardian in order to apply for a test place. Below is a list of valid IDs:

  • Passport
  • GSIS/SSS ID
  • PRC License
  • UMID
  • National ID - ORIGINAL ID Card
  • ePhilID - electronic ID with QR code
    -  If using the ePhilID, kindly ensure that it has been verified through this link: https://verify.philsys.gov.ph/.
    - Bring a printed copy of your ePhilID and screenshots that the ePhilID QR code has been verified. See sample screenshot here

II. Pay for your test through any of the options below. You have 24 hours to complete your IELTS test registration and payment otherwise your registration will be automatically cancelled. 

Option 1: Pay your IELTS exam fee by credit or debit card 

Option 2: Pay your IELTS exam fee through Dragonpay. Use this when paying via these options:

Option 3: BDO Bills Payment via BDO App or Personal/Business Online Banking

1. Log on to your BDO app or BDO online banking portal
2. Choose Bills Payment
3. Choose personal account under “Pay From”
4. Choose: BRITISH COUNCIL SERVICES (PH) INC under “Pay this Company Biller”
5. Indicate amount
6. Indicate IELTS Registration under “Remarks”
7. Indicate on Subscriber’s name : TEST TAKER’S NAME
8. Indicate on Subscriber’s Account No : TEST TAKER’S IELTS REGISTRATION REFERENCE NUMBER without hyphens or dashes 
    Example: A3PH001S2001965
9. Click Continue
 

III. Registration should be completed at least four (4) days before your preferred written test date.

Important registration information for IELTS on paper

If you are not officially a resident of the Philippines, you will not be able to take the IELTS on paper test. However, you can still opt for the computer-based test.  

If you have already booked an IELTS on Paper test and do not hold Philippine nationality:

  1. If you booked your test before 16 January 2025, you will not need to provide proof of residence. 
  2. If you booked your test after 16 January 2025, you must email proof of residence to britishcouncil@britishcouncil.org.ph at least three days before your test date. 

Acceptable proof of residence includes:

  1. A valid Student Visa (including purpose, duration, and expiry date) stamped in your passport. 
  2. A valid Work Permit, which includes two documents:
     - Visa (stating your status and expiry) stamped in your passport
    - Work Permit card (showing the expiry date).
  3. Foreign nationals whose stay in the Philippines has exceeded 59 days must submit a visa extension along with the following ACR I-Card, which could be one of the following: 
    - Permanent Resident 
    - Native Born 
    - Special Non-Immigrant 
    - Worker 
    - Probationary Resident 
    - Tourist 
    - Student
    - Gratis

After you have booked your IELTS test in the Philippines

You will receive emails confirming:

  • the start time of your test date and the venue address
  • your IELTS Speaking Test date
  • your access to the free online preparation course: 'IELTS Ready Premium'
