English for Girls Education (EDGE) focuses on supporting adolescent girls, especially those from marginalized communities, to make more informed and independent life choices. In the Philippines, the scoping study for EDGE hones in on the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), assessing the educational needs of girls who are either out of school or at risk of educational exclusion.
Purpose
This programme, which has seen success across South Asia, combines English proficiency with digital literacy to empower girls, enabling them to participate more fully in economic and social life. Our study will inform how EDGE can be adapted for the BARMM region, ensuring it addresses the unique challenges faced by these communities.
